     MICHAEL ZIMMERMAN is Vice President for Academic Affairs and professor of biology at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington.

     He is also the founder and executive director of The Clergy Letter Project (www.theclergyletterprojct.org), an organization of clergy and scientists dedicated to demonstrating that religion and science need not be in conflict with one another.

     Zimmerman earned his Ph.D. in ecology from Washington University in St. Louis. In addition to conducting research on aspects of pollination ecology, he has studied popular perceptions of the evolution/creation controversy.

     He has been elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in recognition of his work promoting a broader appreciation of science literacy.

     In addition to numerous research papers and popular reports, he is the author of Science, Nonscience, and Nonsense: Approaching Environmental Literacy. His work appears regularly in the Huffington Post.
